What We Do:

Colusa County CAPC is the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council for Colusa County. We are a local non-profit organization serving families in Colusa County by collaborating with other local entities to prevent child abuse.

It is the mission of this council that we live in a community where children are valued, nurtured and protected and will reach their full potential; where high-functioning families provide an environment that allows to thrive. Where agencies throughout the community will collaborate to provide services to children and families and support them toward achieving their goals.

Please visit the About Page for more information on the Colusa County CAPC Board, including an area to meet our Board Members, how to participate, and much more!

This Christmas

This Christmas we strive to help support families who are in need of a little extra joy. We know that the holidays can be stressful for families and providing gifts for children on top of the essentials is hard on many families. Join us in supporting Colusa County families by learning how you can be a part of one or more of our Christmas programs this year!

CHiPS for Kids Annual Toy Drive

Join us as we team up with the California Highway Patrol - Williams to collect new, unopened toys for children 12 years and younger. Our collection barrels will be placed at local businesses in the communities of Colusa, Williams, and Arbuckle throughout the month of November. Families who are in need of some support this holiday season will apply for the program through our agency and gifts will be selected from donations to be given out on our Disbursememt Day, December 16th from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

To donate new, unopened toys to our Toy Drive, please visit one of our collection sites, drop them by our office at 131 5th Street in Colusa, the CHP Williams Office, or consider donating to our Toy Drive on Friday December 2nd at the Olde Tyme Christmas event in Colusa!

If you or someone you know needs a little extra support this holiday season, please fill out an application online by following the link below. There is a form available in English and Spanish, or drop by one of our collection site locations for paper application information. To apply, families will need to provide proof of children's ages and have a sponsor from a community agency that would serve as a reference for the applicant. For more information, please contact our office at 530.458.7678.

Angel Tree

Each year our agency coordinates with community members who are interested in sponsoring a child in Foster Care for Christmas. Our Angel Tree Program secures sponsors for each Colusa County child placed in out-of-home placements and provides them with the child's interests and wish-lists for the holidays. Sponsors then provide gifts for their Angel unwrapped to our office where we coordinate delivery before Christmas! If you are interested in being added to our Wait-List to be a child's sponsor, please contact our office. As our Angel information comes in, we can connect each child's information with a community member sponsor to brighten their Christmas this year. Each year we are blown away by the generosity of our community who all come together to make Christmas a time of joy for children who truly need it. We appreciate all of our Angel Tree sponsors so much. Our Angel Tree Program also accepts donations that cover costs of wrapping materials, gift tags, and gifts for last-minute Angels who need support just before the holidays.

Looking for ways you can help?

Have you considered opening your heart and your home to a child? Becoming a Resource Family is a great way to help children who are currently in out-of-home care by providing a child with the feeling of safety, permanence, and well-being.

Resource Family Approval (RFA) is a family-friendly and child-centered caregiver approval process that combines elements of the current foster parent licensing, relative approval processes, and approvals for adoption and guardianship and replaces those processes.
