Colusa County CAPC is the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council for Colusa County. We are a local non-profit organization serving families in Colusa County by collaborating with other local entities to prevent child abuse.

It is the mission of this council that we live in a community where children are valued, nurtured and protected and will reach their full potential; where high-functioning families provide an environment that allows to thrive. Where agencies throughout the community will collaborate to provide services to children and families and support them toward achieving their goals.

The Blue Pinwheel

The Blue Pinwheel is a National symbol of Child Abuse Prevention as it signifies the bright futures all children deserve. Colusa County CAPC uses the blue pinwheel to spread awareness. This year we have provided county-wide schools, community-based organizations, and sites with Pinwheel Garden Kits that are planted in a central location with information about the true meaning of the blue pinwheel. We will be giving out blue pinwheels at this year's Annual Family Fair on Saturday, April 15th from 10-2 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. We hope to see you there!

Please join us Friday, April 28th at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Colusa County Courthouse for our Children's Memorial Flag Raising Ceremony. The Children’s Memorial Day was established by the California Assembly in April 1997, which formally declared the fourth Friday in April as a statewide annual observance day. On the fourth Friday in April every year the Children’s Memorial Flag is to be flown statewide in memory of all the young lives lost in California due to violence in the previous year. Children’s Memorial Day concludes April’s Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month Activities by honoring children who have lost their lives as a result of child abuse and neglect.

Looking for ways you can help?

Have you considered opening your heart and your home to a child? Becoming a Resource Family is a great way to help children who are currently in out-of-home care by providing a child with the feeling of safety, permanence, and well-being.

Resource Family Approval (RFA) is a family-friendly and child-centered caregiver approval process that combines elements of the current foster parent licensing, relative approval processes, and approvals for adoption and guardianship and replaces those processes.
